About Us

Welcome to our 1st annual celebration of woman in Prince George, B.C. I, Robyn, wise, intuitive, energy reader, rock/moon honorer, advocate and steward of the earth, had a vision...a vision to gather women for honor, celebration, hope, creativity, oneness, knowledge and empowerment. I bought the resort out in Salmon Valley in July 2006 and feel so blessed living here on this amazing 27 acres on the beautiful Salmon River. The tranquil park in a forest of big old growth trees. It is a peaceful, serene and spiritual. I knew buying this land that I was going to collectively do some amazing things here. It is special. I have been working as a child/woman advocate for over 23 years of my life. I am currently working for a large woman's organization and deal with woman as my colleagues, mentors, clients and a wonderful network of all kinds of great women. I feel that we are lacking in honoring our true authentic selves, our natural essence or goddess rhythm. We are the mothers/care givers and deserve to recharge, renew our spirits and ourselves. We deserve a self-care weekend for all women from all nations.

Come and make the first annual celebration of women's lives a great success. Prince George has been waiting for a gathering like this. The Salmon River is calling you to her banks; to share, laugh, learn, gather and exchange stories/experiences on this self care week-end. Come and connect to your own natural rhythm...can you hear the call to gather?

Facilitators

Sheri Bishop, BSc

Being born and raised in Prince Rupert, BC I am a northern girl at heart and have stayed in the north my entire life. For the last 9 years I have worked in the area of violence against women which has given me the opportunity to meet many strong amazing women. Currently I am working to complete a Master's degree in Social Work. It has been through my own personal journey, education, and work experience that I have learned the fundamental principles of assertiveness. I believe that assertiveness helps individuals to take care of themselves while continuing to be respectful to others. Progressing through my own journey to become more assertive I no longer feel guilty for everything, I am a stronger more independent woman, and I have learned how to effectively communicate with others. I look forward to not only sharing my experiences with you but learning about the struggles and successes you have had on your own personal journey towards assertiveness.

B. Louise Browne

Louise has been on her Spiritual and healing path for as long as she can remember. She considers herself a teacher, healer, adventurer… and always the student. Louise has been facilitating workshops on various subjects for over 25 years. Her desire to be of service to others led her to learning, using, and teaching the tools for self healing and growth, leading workshops and facilitating individuals in developing greater awareness, balance, and wholeness in their lives. Louise presently lives in Prince George with her “Bubala” Lawrence, and two fur babies, Molly and Bailey. When not teaching or studying, she is either gardening; designing and creating healing jewellery; or exploring new ways to create fibre art.

Brenda Ann Bye

I discovered bellydance in 1996 at a Renaissance Faire in Vancouver, Washington. The primitive rhythm of the drums drew me from across the meadow and I was mesmerized by the dancer's age- old moves. My dance journey had begun. I have enjoyed being both a student and a teacher over the years and have been sharing my version of bellydance with others in workshops around the province as well as weekly classes in Quesnel for about 10 years now. I also enjoy directing “The Jewels of the Fraser”......a performing troupe based in Quesnel.

Middle Eastern Dance, more commonly known as Belly Dance is ancient…with it's roots in temple rites and matriarchal cultures. It is an excellent way to reconnect with our femininity in the very Masculine world that we live in. It is a celebration of the female spirit and women of all ages, shapes and sizes find joy in the uplifting moves. It has been both sacred and scorned over the years….and was once a gift; danced by women, for women. It is still a gift…one that we give to ourselves as well as share with each other. Unveil the dancer within you.

Dahne Harding

I was born in Halifax, and still consider Nova Scotia my home though I have lived in the US, as well as in a variety of Canadian locations; travel to Europe and Mexico has contributed to an open minded view of the world. I have lived in Prince George since 1989, where I am raising my six terrific kids and attending the University of Northern BC and working on a Master of Arts in Gender Studies. I am currently working at AWAC in downtown Prince George.
Primarily working in acrylics, and continually under the magical influence of color, I work to facilitate paintings that are rich and moving renditions of life in the physical and abstract sense. Some are simply landscapes or still life that inspire, many of the paintings explore notions about gender roles and roles in general. They are interactions between a musing mind and the materials and this interaction creates a dialogue in which the viewer is invited to participate.

Emily Moliere

-53 years young - the happiest and most content that I have been in years. I am a trained @ experiential facilitating and that is the kind of courses I believe in. Experiential learning means you are doing rather than observing. I feel you get the most insight into your own life though doing.

Tammy Skomorowski, MEd, CCC

I was born and raised in Ontario and I've now lived in Prince George for a total of 7 years. I've worked in the field of mental health for 17 years and I still love it! My education, training, and work experience is in psychology, sociology, education, and counseling, with too many years of post-secondary education, to count. I'm currently employed as a Certified Counsellor at UNBC Counseling Services and as an occasional Instructor in the Arts and Science Division at CNC.

I'm very excited to be a part of the women's retreat weekend and I'm as equally excited to share my own personal journey in assertiveness with you as I am to learn from your experiences. Assertiveness is not only a skill set that can be learned it is also a way of being. I look forward to teaching and sharing assertiveness strategies with you and to challenge you to make a small shift in the mindset of “being” more assertive.

Rhonda Simmons

Whatever the media, it is deeply personal, like an invitation, it draws you in to meet the artist at her core. The work empowers her. A beacon for women looking to find their power, Rhonda has found hers, within herself. This healing, loving spirit within her makes powerful pieces. While they are about her, they are from a shared experience, other women can embrace aspects of Rhonda's journey.
Community is her most important creation. Supporting and caring for herself and for other women as they also go along their own stretch of road, somehow it is those forks in the road that replenish and nourish the soul for everyone fortunate enough to be part of that fabric of
community Rhonda has stitched together. www.alteredanything.com
